Sun. 4pm – Hugh Masekela truly showed the power of music to touch hearts and change minds; he was a musician, a mentor and a brave advocate for the elimination of apartheid.

To mark his inspiring life, Lark Clark returns to an interview she had with Hugh during his last visit to Edmonton in 2012.  Despite the looming deadline of a soundcheck before his show, the legendary horn player joined Lark for a warm chat, one where he reminisced about first arriving in New York, where the great Dizzy Gillespie took him to meet John Coltrane and Miles Davis. Or his fight against apartheid in South Africa alongside Harry Belafonte and Miriam Makeba, using his music to grow awareness of an issue that so many were eager to ignore.

Ready with a fascinating story and a sharp joke, Hugh was an amazing storyteller. Catch the interview at 4pm MT on World Spinning this Sunday.
