Sat. at 5pm — This Saturday’s Mulligan Stew is a peek into the future. Terry David Mulligan is taking a look ahead to the fantastic acts lined up for this year’s the Vancouver Island Music Festival.
While it might take place on the other side of the Rockies, the event is becoming a big draw for Alberta festivals fans (including familiar CKUA faces, like Holger Petersen, Peter North and Tom Coxworth, who are all involved this year).
To get ready for this year’s celebration, TDM has a show highlighting some of the festival’s biggest draws — including Emmylou Harris, Colin Linden and the Barenaked Ladies. On top of that, he’ll have live tracks to get you in that summer festival mood, from artists like Bob Dylan, Annie Lennox, Joe Bonamassa and Fats Dominio.
As well, keep an ear out in the coming weeks for an interview with one of music’s most colourful guests — singer, activist, author and fabulous troublemaker Billy Bragg – on his newest book.
Bragg chronicles the history of skiffle music, from its improvised routes in 1920s America, to the U.K. revival under the incomparable Lonnie Donegan, which went on to influence The Beatles and other British powerhouses decades later.
Catch it Saturday at 5 p.m. MT on Mulligan Stew.
