Syncrude invests over 40 million dollars each year on exploring better ways to tap the oil sands resource and reduce environmental impacts. It operates one of the largest private sector research centres in Western Canada and is among the top research and development spenders in the country.

Syncrude brings energy to life through the Ways of Knowing: Lessons from the Sky Science-In-A-Crate program. Through interactive hands-on activities, Grade 6 students learn astronomy from a modern perspective, while also exploring the universe from traditional Aboriginal perspectives.
