Serena Ryder pops by Mulligan Stew this week to bring a little bit of holiday cheer.

Fresh off touring in Atlantic Canada with her newest release, Christmas Kisses, Ryder talks about how her love of jazz transformed a holiday album into a passion project.

“Jazz music has always been one of my biggest vocal influencers,” she says.

“When I was a young girl, I would spend hours upon hours locked away in my room listening and singing to Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Nina Simon and Chet Baker. It’s been a dream of mine to be able to sing an entire album in this style — and also a dream to be able to embrace the spirit of Christmas in a genuinely joyful way.”

Serena and Terry David Mulligan to talk more about the album, including what it was like to work with legendary Canadian producer Bob Ezrin.

Tune in at 5pm MT on Mulligan Stew to hear the full interview.
