It’s a special day – our own Roy Forbes is being recognized for a lifetime of music with an induction into the B.C. Entertainment Hall of Fame.

Roy has established himself a pillar of the Canadian folk music scene — first performing as Bim in the 1960s, he’s become one the country’s most respected singer-songwriters. Now, half a century later, he still knows how to capture an audience, still writing new songs and recently closing out the 40th Vancouver Folk Music Festival.

And let’s not forget the 11 years he’s been the host of the well-loved Roy’s Record Room here on CKUA, just another way that Roy connects with music lovers.

Roy is being honoured as one of this year’s inductees in the Star Walk category, reserved for those who have added to BC’s cultural profile, at a ceremony today in Vancouver. Before that, he talked with Tony King a bit about the induction, his career and the changes he’s seen in the music industry over the decades. Have a listen to the full interview.

Congratulations Roy!
