Once
a month, every third Monday, we'll be back in the fifties, taking a look at that
crazy little thing called rockabilly. You'll hear a bit of the familiar and a
whole lot of the obscure as we roll up the rug and unravel the roots - showing
that rockabilly was much, much more than Elvis, Carl Perkins, Gene Vincent and
Jerry Lee Lewis.
Although I will be playing records from my own stack
of shellac and vinyl, the heart of this monthly feature will be the definitive
Rockabilly collection, That'll Flat Git It!, a 26 CD series from one
of the world's premier reissue labels, Bear Family Records. Click
here for more on that great series. We'll have a continuing archive
of playlists from past RRRU's on this page so you can track the progress
of the series.
And, check
out this short audio clip of yours truly, in conversation
about my own continuing discovery of rockabilly.
