STAPLES SINGERS FROM 1957

This heart-stopping performance was released in 1957 on the Vee Jay label. By my calculations, Mavis Staples would have been about seventeen when I’m Coming Home was cut. Pops Staples had already developed his trademark tremolo-drenched, swampy sounding guitar style. Can’t get enough of this fine stuff!

We heard this one on the June 12 RRR.
