AN ORIGINAL UNCLE DAVE MACON 1927 VOCALION 78.

The Ol' Dixie Dew Drop, Uncle Dave Macon, recorded this gem in New York City on the tenth of May, 1927. Like the bluesmen of that era (and Bob Dylan today), Uncle Dave would grab a few stray verses from here and there, make up a few new ones and fashion 'em all in to a new tune. Heartaching Blues is a good example of that kind of songwriting, showing a strong influence from St. Louis Blues.

We heard Uncle Dave on the May 21/07 More Shufflin' at the Shellac Shack all 78 edition of Roooooooy's Record Room.
