THE RAVENS SING SUMMERTIME ON A 1947 NATIONAL 78
The greatest ‘summer tune’ sung by one of
the greatest doo-wop groups.
The Ravens waxed their version of Summertime in 1947. Their version was released that year on this noisy National 78. Although the disc looks shiny and new, it’s possible that the pressing plant put sand in the compound!
We heard this gem (cleaned up a bit, thanks to some computer software) on the August 7 Summer Tunes edition of ‘The Room’.
