DALE HAWKINS 1957 CHECKER 45 - THE ORIGINAL 'SUZIE Q'
Here is the original 1957 Dale Hawkins Checker
45 of Suzie Q, a tune later immortalized and psychedelicized
by Creedence Clearwater Revival. Roy Buchanan reportedly plays
the nasty guitar on this echo-soaked track. It’s raw, primitive
and darned exciting!
Thanks to my old pal Terry David Mulligan who played the
Creedence version of Suzie Q on Mulligan Stew
a while back, inspiring me to dig out this Dale Hawkins
disc which, in turn, inspired the June 26 Finger Full
of 45s RRR.
