CLUB 93 REBELS INSTRUMENTAL 45 FROM 1960.
Here's one - in rough shape but still playable- that may
be familiar to some of you Edmontonions. As my pal, Canadian
guitar instrumental expert Rich Hagensen, told me in an e-mail:
'Pink Canary' and its flipside 'Road Block' was the
first 45 single by Wes Dakus & The Rebels. As you can see,
it was listed only as by the Club 93 Rebels and recorded by
the band at Edmonton radio station CJCA. They were at 930
on the AM dial so their teen club show was titled "Club 93"
and The Rebels were the sponsored house band for awhile. 'Pink
Canary' featured Bob Clarke on lead guitar, Wes Dakus on bass
guitar and Don Paches on drums. Release date was 1960.
Thanks Rich. I'm wondering who the second guitar player
was. Barry Allen, maybe? Folks, if you go to www.superoldies.com
and poke around a bit, you can find out about a new CD release
of early Wes Dakus material. Better hurry though. Last time
I checked, they only had five copies left.
We heard this one on the Oct 16 Rockin' At The Record
Show edition of RRR .
