5 ROYALES 'DISC JOCKEY RECORD' 78 FROM 1953.
Here, originally from a radio station somewhere down in
Alabama, is a nice Apollo 'Disc Jockey Record' 78 circa 1953
from the intense doo-wop group, The 5 Royales.
Almost all of the 5 Royales' material was written by guitarist
Lowman Pauling. Lowman's songs were covered by many important
artists. James Brown and Aretha Franklin tore it up with Think,
Ray Charles covered Tell the Truth, and the Shirelles
(and later the Mamas & the Papas) had pop success with Dedicated
to the One I Love.
We heard the excellent, raw sounding I Want To Thank
You on the May 7/07 Shellac Shack Shuffle
edition of RRR .
