This week on Mixtape we celebrate the one year anniversary of the opening of CKUA’s Calgary Foundation Studio by revisiting the first interview recorded in that space (watch SHAW TV’s coverage of the big event).
In September of 2016, we flung open the doors of our new Calgary home and in the midst of the hub bub sat down with Andrew Mosker, the President and CEO of the National Music Centre – Studio Bell to talk about his musical influences. Andrew refers to his Mixtape choices as “portals”; his entry points in various kinds of music. And needless-to-say, there are some pretty great stories to with each of those points of entry.
So we invite you to spend an hour with the passionate and eloquent Andrew Mosker: CEO, one of Avenue Magazine’s Top 40 Under 40 – Class of 2007, voted one of the 50 most influential people in 2014 by Alberta Venture, the man with the vision and drive to bring Canada’s National Music Centre – along with the Canadian Music Hall of Fame – to the City of Calgary and the Province of Alberta. But it’s Andrew’s passion for music, the artists that led him to the vast worlds of jazz, blues, singer-songwriters, guitar players, and above all, pianists that he brings to the table Wednesday evening at 7pm.
