On May 25th 2013, we celebrated the official public opening of CKUA’s new home in an iconic and historic Edmonton landmark! Our Party in the Park featured live performances, special guests, tours of the storied music library and broadcast studios and much more.
Featured performers included 100 mile house, the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra’s “Street Team”, Pro Coro, the CariWest dancers, Alberta Dance Alliance, The Hawaiian Sunset Band, and CKUA’s very own Ukulele Orchestra.
Holger Petersen hosted Canada’s longest-running blues show, Natch’l Blues, live from 3-5pm featuring a performance by Chicago blues legend Maurice John Vaughn and Grammy winner Donald Ray Johnson.
Despite poor weather, we had 3200 people come through our building. Some people drove 2 hours through torrential rain to be here today. We had such overwhelming response to our tours that we had to set up another round later on!
