Andy Donnelly and The Celtic Show will broadcast live from the East Coulee Spring Festival tonight, 6-8pm. Tune in as Andy talks to festival organizers and artists appearing on stage. If you're in the area, make sure to visit the East Coulee Hotel & Tavern and say hello to Andy!

Thoughts on the Spring Campaign

Our Main Control Message this week features Katrina Regan-Ingram's reflections on our campaign, our results, and our plans for the future:

"April 23rd brought about an interesting turn of events for Albertans with a historic election that ended with some unanticipated results. It also marked the end of the CKUA Spring Campaign. Just like politics, CKUA fundraisers are subject to all kinds of forces that make it very difficult to predict the final results until the very end.

For those following CKUA’s campaign results, you’ll know that our last two fundraisers have landed on the “soft” side. While the situation is far from being dire, it is serious. And we are taking it seriously."

A Time for Change...

for A Time for Jazz, among others. This month we introduced our newest CKUA Announcer/Producer, Kodi Hutchinson, who brings some serious jazz chops along with experience as a record company executive to A Time For Jazz Saturday afternoons.

We also make sure the coffee's hot as we welcome, earlier than usual, Mr. Tony King to a 3-hour Alberta Morning weekday mornings.

And we spend Saturday and Sunday Breakfast with Orest Soltykevych who now owns the early weekend mornings!

Our Friend Tommy Banks

Tommy Banks and CKUA are inextricably connected, ranging from programs like his 'Music for Moderns' to 'The Solo Piano of Tommy Banks'. So CKUA is very grateful that Tommy Banks said no to Vegas and yes to Edmonton...read 'Tommy Banks Comes Home'.

Untapped: Launching June 2012

CKUA, along with ATB and AMIA, are pleased to announce Untapped, a new 1-hour series featuring artists such as Edmonton rockers Tupelo Honey and Audio/Rocketry, country sweetheart Katie Mission, Folkfest faves Scenic Route to Alaska, Western Canadian Music Awards nominee James Murdoch, and Lethbridge folk favourite Leeroy Stagger.

Hosted by the sharp and capable Sarah Hoyles, Untapped will air interviews and performances that were recorded at six 'Untapped Alberta' concerts that took place in communities throughout the province.
