Michael Jerome Browne on Fire on the Mountain



Singer, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Michael Jerome Browne brings his vast knowledge of American roots music to Alberta on May 17 for a show at the Ironwood in Calgary and at the Blue Chair in Edmonton on May 18.  Michael's work in old-time music will be the focus of an interview with host Steve Fisher on this week's Fire on The Mountain, Thursday, May 17 at 6pm and in rebroadcast, Sunday, May 20 at 4am.

This week on Mulligan Stew, host Terry David Mulligan welcomes Sam Parton from the Be Good Tanyas in the first hour of the program. The band's Alberta dates include:
 
• May 16: Lethbridge - University Theatre
• May 17: Calgary- Knox United Church
• May 18: Edmonton - Myer Horowitz Theatre
 
In the second hour, Alan Doyle of Great Big Sea promotes his new solo CD, Boy On a Bridge, to be released on May 15. Alan has two dates in the province:
 
• May 24: Calgary - Grand Theatre
• May 25: Edmonton - Starlite Room

The Celtic Show visits the East Coulee Spring Festival this Friday May 11, to kick off the Alberta Festival season.
 
Bring your festival chairs, water, bag of snacks, and an extra wool sweater just in case, to the East Coulee Hotel and Tavern (address below) and join Andy as he chats with festival folks and artists appearing at the festival. If you can't make it to East Coulee, please tune in Friday 6-8pm.
 
The East Coulee Spring Festival features 100 musicians (38 bands), 4 stages, 12 hours of music, jam sessions and an eclectic mix for all ages. The festivities kick off Friday at 6pm, and continue Saturday noon to midnight – with a Monster Jam to follow at the East Coulee Hotel & Tavern.

Students/Seniors - $22.50
Kids - FREE
