Williams-Davidson, Terri-Lynn
Terri-Lynn Williams-Davidson is a Haida musician with a compelling day job - she is one of the top lawyers representing the Haida land claim. As she explains in this interview, her interest in traditional songs and Haida culture is inseparable from her commitment to protecting Haida Gwaii, her ancestral home.
A winner of two Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards, Terri-Lynn's most recent release,
New Journeys, is the first time that Haida song has been set in musical accompaniments of keyboards, guitar, cello and percussion. "I think it's so important to find ways to work together and to achieve reconciliation, " says Terri-Lynn.
Join Terri-Lynn and Lark Clark for an informative discussion spiked with songs ranging from the ancient to contemporary, as aired on
World Spinning, August 28, 2011.
