Oskar Zybart was born in raised in Edmonton. In the pre-internet era, Oskar developed a love for non-commercial radio as the best gateway to learning about new and interesting sounds. While completing his university studies in languages and literature, he began hosting a weekly music program on CJSR. In 2012, Oskar joined CKUA as an intern in the Volunteer department. Later that year, an opportunity arose and he joined the staff as the station’s Creative Writer.

Outside of radio, Oskar has worked as an editor, session musician, promoter, filmmaker, bartender, and translator. He occasionally writes for The Sunday Review, and is one of the founders of The REC-YEG Project – an effort dedicated to preserving recordings of Edmonton performances.
