Sun. 4pm – This weekend, Lark Clark sits down with Khari Wendell McClelland, the JUNO-nominated musician and one of the minds behind the brilliant Freedom Singer.
The production has been captivating audiences across the country, having just wrapped up a run at Edmonton’s Citadel Theatre. Created by McClelland and Andrew Kushnir, Freedom Singer echoes Khari’s emotional search to find any information about his ancestor who escaped the life of a slave in the American south, making her way to Canada via the Underground Railroad.
Here’s a look at the production, when McClelland, Tanika Charles and Noah Walker gave us a preview of the show during our Fall Fundraiser:
Lark will have an in-depth interview with McClleland on the show. She’ll also be spinning some of his inspiring music on World Spinning, Sunday at 4pm MT.
