This week, the Everly Brothers strut their stuff with their original, galvanizing  1964 recording  of “Gone, Gone, Gone”, covered so nicely by Robert Plant and Alison Krauss back in 2007. The 5 Royales give out a deep ska-like groove on their 1960 King 45 “I’m With You”. And, as it’s the last day of the ninth month, I’ll spin a 1959 Bethlehem single of “September In The Rain” by former Ellington vocalist, Betty Roche.

But wait: I’ve dug out more excellent jazz, soul, blues and  rockabilly singles from Jimmy Reed, King Curtis, Jumpin’ Gene Simmons, Chuck Berry, Barbara Lewis, Jackie Wilson , Otis Redding, Peggy Lee, etc.

That’s Sunday at 1pm MT for A Fingerfulla 45s on Rooooy’s Record Room, the show that reveals the roots.

Twelve years and counting.
