Friday, May 9
The Leduc Drama Society presents the musical comedy
Damn Yankees, the story of a loyal baseball
fan, who in a moment of frustration and weakness sells his
soul to the Devil for a chance to become the savior of his
favorite team. Shows run this weekend and next at Maclab Centre
for the Performing Arts.
Controversial writer Sarah Kane drew on her experiences with
crippling depression, psychiatric treatment and the destructive
side effects of her medications to create the darkly funny
and vibrantly poetic 4.48 Psychosis. The show
runs from tonight to May 17th at the Arts Barns in Edmonton.

Medicine Hat College Conservatory Dancers perform
Back to Basics, their year-end dance recital. Tonight's
show is at 7, tomorrow they perform at 1, 3, and 7 pm, and
Sunday at 1 in the Medicine Hat College Theatre. Call 502-8777.
Famed Canadian soprano, Nancy Argenta will sing works
by Purcell, Schubert, Poulenc and various English & American
composers at Robertson-Wesley United Church in Edmonton,
beginning at 8 tonight. Call Tix on the Square.
Rosemary Bennett presents a one woman exhibit called Reflections
Of France until May 31st at the Station Cultural Centre
in Okotoks. The opening reception is tonight from 7
to 9 pm. Rosemary travelled to France in 2005, and again in
2007 to paint in the Loire Valley Region and also Paris. This
show is the shared vision of these trips comprised of paintings
in oils, acrylics, watercolours, pastels and also some photography.
Saturday, May 10
Ship and Anchor Pub in Calgary has regular events
going on. Today and tomorrow from noon to 4 they host the
Calgary Folk Festival Songwriting Contest with Best
Songs of Alberta. Call 245-2991.
The Kokopelli Choir Association invites you to celebrate
the joys of the new season at their annual Colours of Spring
concert at West End Christian Reformed Church in Edmonton
tonight at 7. The association's three choirs should surprise
and delight you with their eclectic mix of vibrant, fresh

The Lloydminster Vic Juba Community Theatre Film Society
presents Great Hollywood Teams every second Monday
at 7:30 pm. The next show is May 12th, and features Road to
Morocco, starring Bob Hope, Bing Crosby and Dorothy Lamour.

Join Leonardo da Vinci at the French court of King Francis
I as the Calgary Renaissance Singers & Players
present a light-hearted concert featuring the musical stories
of Clément Janequin. The show is at the Scarboro United
Church at 8. Call Lauretta at 701-4570 or at Classics Plus.
The Foothills Male Chorus and their groups The Blue
Diamonds, The Pathfinder Quartet with guests Tenor Power,
continue their series of Spring Concerts along the Yellowhead
Highway. Tonight they're in the Jasper Anglican Church,
with tickets at Jasper Rock And Jade and at the door, and
they return to Hinton for concerts May 11th and 12th
at the Alliance Church. Get tickets for those performances
at Hinton Municipal Library and at the door. All concerts
start at 7 pm.
