When it comes to famous male/female country duos through the years, there are a few standouts: Johnny & June, George & Tammy, Porter & Dolly, to name a few. Then along came the husband and wife team of Buddy & Julie.

Julie has quietly been one of the most successful songwriters of the past decade, with songs recorded by such artists as Emmylou Harris, Lee Ann Womack, Patty Loveless, Suzy Bogguss… you get the picture.

Buddy is a musician's musician, playing pretty much anything with strings, singing on, producing and/or engineering many other people's albums. He has been a long-time collaborator with Emmylou Harris and has recently been on tour with Robert Plant and Alison Krauss.

Each has been involved in the other's "solo" projects over the years, but Written in Chalk is only the second release that officially bears both names. It is indeed a true collaboration and features some amazing guests, including Emmylou Harris, Robert Plant and Patty Griffin.

Buddy & Julie Miller are the full-meal deal. No "flavour of the week" fluff here; they just sing and play powerful, beautiful, lyrical songs with absolutely perfect instrumental backing and arrangements. That's all! Unlike the title, the music on this disc indelibly etches itself into your head, heart and soul.
