Types of Volunteer Opportunities at CKUA

  • Department Support:
    Samplings of volunteer positions that may be available are:
    • Clerical - includes data entry, answering phones, reception & basic office administration
    • Filing - assisting with mailouts and other assorted projects
    • Data entry - required during fundraising drives to enter donor and volunteer
    • information.
    • Short term projects as required

  • Pledge Drive:
    CKUA holds 2 yearly fund raising initiatives in the Spring and Fall. Pledge drive opportunities include shift phone leader, answering phones, library runner, open house and station tours, clerical, data entry and assisting with prizes and hospitality.
    The library runner position exists during Fund Raising campaigns (Edmonton only). Volunteers look up requests in the library database, pull these requests and pass them to on air announcers.

  • Music Library:
    CKUA Radio hosts one of the largest collections of music in Canada with over 100,000 CD’s, 78’s and albums. A sampling of volunteer positions that may be available are:
    • Music information line - answer and respond to listener requests for information about music played throughout the day.
    • Volunteers require knowledge of the library and the library database.
    • Cataloguing/filing
  • Special Events:
    Represent CKUA at various music, arts & cultural events throughout the province. Samplings of volunteer positions that may be available are:
    • CKUA merchandise sales
    • distributing program guides and promotional materials
    • set-up and tear-down
    • information booth
  • Chapters:
    A non-profit board of directors that promote CKUA in respective communities. Samplings of volunteer positions that may be available are: president, vice-president, secretary-treasurer and board members at large.
