Edmonton saxophonist
Kent Sangster will join host Kodi Hutchinson on
A Time For Jazz, Saturday, September 29 at 2pm. Kent and his Obsessions Octet will be travelling to New York to play at Carnegie Hall on October 6.
The group was nominated in 2007 for a Juno for Contemporary Jazz for the album Obsession and on the strength of both that album and their new release, Melodia, they were invited to play at Carnegie Hall.
The octet’s sound is an elegant blend of classical, Latin, and jazz elements, including works by Astor Piazzolla, Chucho Valdez, Cole Porter, and a collection of Kent Sangster’s original compositions.
